Michele Burch

 
 

Michele Burch is a faculty member in the Department of Operations & Information Management at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She delivers courses focused on lean systems, operations management, employee involvement, idea systems, and high-performance organizations. In addition to serving as the Chair of the Departmental Curriculum Committee, she serves as the Faculty Advisor to the student-led Operations & Information Management club. Her twenty years of teaching experience includes time spent as an Adjunct Professor at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Industrial Engineering Department. She earned both a Ph.D. in Management Science and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Within industry, Michele served as a Strategic Operations and Organizational Development consultant to FloDesign Sonics, a start-up in Wilbraham, MA that uses acoustics as a filter. In the past, she served as Interim COO for FloDesign Wind Turbine, a clean energy company, and spent several years thereafter providing consulting services to the company as it grew. Immediately following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a product engineer and sales engineer at Springfield Wire in Springfield, MA. Michele was the recipient of the Isenberg Dean’s Faculty Fellowship in 2019 and recognized with the Isenberg Teaching Excellence Award in 2017.
