post-acute sector of the health care industry since graduating from UMass with a BS in Exercise Science in 1979.  She earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration (M.H.A.) from Clark University/University of MA Medical School in 1991, and has been a licensed nursing home administrator for over 26 years.  In addition to serving as the Administrator for several skilled nursing facilities during her career, Karen has held also worked in specialty programs like Adult Day Health and Dementia Care units, created and operated both a Medicare certified Hospice program and a Hospice Residence, and served as the CEO/Executive for several tax exempt several organizations, including a multi-service human service organization and a multi-service post-acute/LTC provider, before joining Notre Dame Health Care Center, Worcester, as the Chief Executive Officer in 2015.  Her experience has been primarily in not-for-profit organizations, which has afforded her the opportunity to develop a specialty in non-profit management and governance, and she completed the merger of two tax exempt entities in 2009, including the transfer of significant assets.  She has also served on numerous boards and advisory committees.  In her current position, Karen oversees the operations of a non-profit entity with a number of programs, including a skilled nursing facility, an assisted living residence, a community based Hospice program, a care management practice, a pediatric palliative care and hospice program, and an educational center for the organizations employees and community based students.
